Registration & Licensing
InSched is licensed with a signed license issued by IntelliPract. The license identifies your practice and controls what is enabled — the number of physicians, locations, resources, and seats (workstations), and which features (Scheduling, Billing, eCharts) are licensed. A valid license is required to use InSched.
How licensing works
Once registered, InSched refreshes its license from the IntelliPract server automatically every day — renewals and changes to your license simply appear, with nothing to type in. If a computer cannot reach the server, InSched keeps working on its stored license for a grace period.
Two different problems produce two different messages:
- Stale license — "InSched has not been able to refresh its license from the server recently…" means this computer has been unable to reach the license server for an extended period. Check the computer's internet connection, then select Setup > Registration Download to refresh.
- Expired registration — the license's own expiration date has passed. Contact IntelliPract to renew.
The Registration dialog
Select Setup > Registration (password-protected). The Practice Name, Serial Number, and Version are shown read-only — they come from the license itself and cannot be mistyped. To install a license manually, paste the license string you received from IntelliPract into the License box and save; the practice name, serial number, and version are set automatically. A license issued for another practice will be rejected.
The five-part registration codes used by earlier versions of InSched are no longer used.
Loading a license from a file
For a computer without internet access, IntelliPract can supply the license as a
.lic file. Select Setup > Registration Load From File ... and choose the file.
InSched confirms with "New license loaded from file" (or tells you the file matches
what you already have, or is not valid).
Downloading on demand
Setup > Registration Download & Check Maintenance fetches the current license from the server immediately — useful right after a renewal, or to clear a stale-license message.
Viewing your registration
Select Help > Registration Info (password-protected) to see the current license: the practice name, serial number, database Version and License Version, the licensed counts (Physicians, Locations, Resources, Seats), the expiration date (if any), which features are licensed, and whether the registration is currently valid, stale, or expired.
Seat limits
The license limits how many workstations (seats) can use InSched at once. If you see "Too many users; N licensed, M active", close InSched on an unused workstation, or contact IntelliPract to add seats.
